Technical Questions

A Sliding Point is a large diameter hole in a panel, designed to allow rivets and screws to move without obstruction. This is especially important as subframes are subjected to thermal movement.

A Fixed Point is a smaller diameter hole, usually 0.1mm bigger than the fixing diameter used to secure the panel to the subframe. The fixed point ensures that a panel will not move or slide from it's required position.

Our Centralising Tools are precision drilling attachments used during the installation of rainscreen panels. Its unique design means rivets can be installed concentrically to a larger diameter, pre-drilled Sliding Point hole. This is hugely important as now the rivet will be able to move freely within the structure which is subject to thermal expansion/contraction, without locking up or damaging the panel.

Our Stand-Off Nose Pieces are precision-machined attachments for rivet guns. Their role during the installation is to ensure that rivets "stand-off" from the rainscreen panel in line with panel manufacturer guidelines. A rivet installed flat to the panel will result in damage both to the panel and the rivet.
